Animism, Showmax and The Sawmill have teamed up to allow Virtual Production filming to become a reality in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Showmax's scalable LED Wall solutions utilize the same ROE BP2.8mm screens used on Disney's 'The Mandalorian'. When integrated with Unreal Engine, immersive film environments can be created, incorporating real world lighting within a fully customizable virtual environment.

The Sawmill provides on-set camera motion capture to facilitate real time playback through Unreal Engine and onto our industry leading LED screens. The Virtual Production workflow will soon expand to include real time CG creature and character performances.

Vancouver's Virtual Production industry takes a giant leap forward through the collaborative efforts of a few visionary entities.

Experienced filmmakers are essential to learning, adapting and developing the new workflows and techniques Virtual Productions can offer.

63 shots and only 6 different setups over a 4 hour shoot set the groundwork for a more efficient era of filmmaking here in British Columbia.

Virtual Production allows filmmakers to reproduce real world lighting conditions captured in camera with minimal studio lighting.

Through the combination of artistic vision and technical achievement, real time digital environment manipulation allows filmmakers to explore new worlds that are limited only by the imagination.

Workflows using unknown backgrounds in a green screen environment are replaced with the ability to lock shots in camera with accurate background representation.
